Researchers with a registered ORCID ID are able to update their ORCID record with both prior and current research works. There are a number of ways researchers can add works to the registry:


1) Using the ORCID "Search & link" wizard 

(This is useful if researcher has published papers with a publishers who have created a "Search & link" wizard as part of their ORCID implementation. 


 - Login to your ORCID record at http://orcid.org/my-orcid 

-  Go to the Works section and click on "Add works"

-  Click on "Search & link" to see a list of databases from which works can be selected. 

-  Click on a database where researcher's previous papers were published.

2) Import papers using a BibTex file. 

(This is useful for researchers who have a profile in Google Scholar Citation profile.)


 - Login to your ORCID record at http://orcid.org/my-orcid 

-  Go to the Works section and click on "Add works"

- Click on "Import BibTex". (See importing BibTex files for information on how to create and import works via BibTex.)

- Select your BibTex file and upload. 


3) Manually adding research papers


-  Login to your ORCID record at http://orcid.org/my-orcid 


-  Go to the Works section and click on "Add works"

- Click on "Add manually"

- Follow the prompts to fill in information about your past research work.
