Overview

It is important to maintain a strong password and change it regularly to ensure a proper level of security. The AAF recommends using a strong password with a combination or capital and lowercase letters, numbers and characters and updating your password at least every 6 months. This article will guide you through updating your password for Virtual Home Account Users and Users with an institutional login connected to AAF Federated Services.


Prerequisites

You must have an institutional or Virtual Home Account provided by your organisation or directly from the Australian Access Federation.


Details

Your password is typically set by your home institution or organisation who have subscribed to the AAF 


For a user who is a staff member or a student of an institution or an AAF-subscribed organisation
Use your institution's local Service Desk to assist you with changing your password. You will be able to log in via the AAF as soon as the new password takes effect (usually immediately).


Users associated with an institution, NOT a staff member or student but uses the Virtual Home Organisation 

You will need to contact your local Service Desk or Identity Provider (IdP) administrator to change your password. You will be able to log in via the AAF as soon as the new password takes effect (usually immediately).


Virtual Home Administrators:

To reset another users password, log into the virtual home. There you will find the organisation that you manage and a tab which has an accounts list. Click on the user which you would like to edit, on the top right hand of the screen you will have a list of actions (Picture below) which will allow you several functions including, resetting a password.
